Weather Policy

A little rain and mud are all part of the Bush Crew fun! Our sessions are designed to be enjoyed outdoors in all kinds of weather, but the safety of our little explorers and their grown-ups will always come first.

Extreme Heat

Bush Crew sessions will be cancelled if the temperature is forecast to reach 35°C or above during the session.

Weather conditions will be checked using the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) forecast, and families will be notified of any cancellation as early as possible on the morning of the session.

High Winds

Sessions may be cancelled if sustained strong or unsafe winds are forecast to be greater than 40km/h, particularly where there is an increased risk from falling trees or branches.

Wind speed, weather warnings and the conditions at our location will all be considered when making this decision.

Rain & Storms

A bit of rain won't stop Bush Crew! Light to moderate rain is part of outdoor play, so gumboots, raincoats and a change of clothes are always a good idea.

Sessions may be cancelled if heavy or persistent rain, thunderstorms, flooding, unsafe ground conditions or other severe weather makes it unsafe to go ahead.

If We Need to Cancel

If a session needs to be cancelled due to unsafe weather, families will be contacted as early as possible on the day.

Where possible, Bush Crew will aim to reschedule a cancelled session within the same term. If this isn't possible, families will be advised of the options available.

Come Prepared for the Weather

Bush Crew is all about embracing the outdoors, so please dress yourself and your little explorer for the conditions.

Warm weather: Hat, sunscreen, suitable clothing and plenty of water.

Wet weather: Raincoat, gumboots and spare clothes, getting a little muddy is part of the fun!

Cool weather: Warm layers, waterproof outerwear and a beanie when needed.

Weather can change quickly, so we recommend checking the forecast before heading out.

There's no such thing as perfect weather, just weather that's safe to play in.
